New Home for the APOLLO SOYUZ command module: a collaboration during the cold war between UssR and USA.

The Apollo Soyuz command module that went in space in July 1975 is now exposed in an hexagonal RH-controlled display case. Side lengths of the case approx. 6 m (240.00″), height approx. 4 m (162.00″) Prior to have it shipped in parts, the vitrine was test mounted at the Frankfurt workshop to ensure all parts fit perfectly and guarantee the required airtightness. A particular challenge in this project: The artefact needed to be installed first and the display case fitted around it, necessitating close collaboration between GBH engineers and the museum’s staff in the planning of the installation.
