Aurora Museum
Two invisible jewellery glass display cases in Tadao Ando’s jewellery box of the Aurora Museum.
viewThe Apollo Soyuz command module that went in space in July 1975 is now exposed in an hexagonal RH-controlled display case. Side lengths of the case approx. 6 m (240.00″), height approx. 4 m (162.00″) Prior to have it shipped in parts, the vitrine was test mounted at the Frankfurt workshop to ensure all parts fit perfectly and guarantee the required airtightness. A particular challenge in this project: The artefact needed to be installed first and the display case fitted around it, necessitating close collaboration between GBH engineers and the museum’s staff in the planning of the installation.
